Ronald W. (Shoe) Shoemaker, 72, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 25, 2008, at Wilson Memorial Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Mildred Shoemaker. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Donna (VanMarter) Shoemaker, Chenango Bridge; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Jennifer Shoemaker, Bloomingdale, N.J. and daughter, Denise Shoemaker, Spring Hill, Florida; three grandchildren, Marisa Ann McCants, Spring Hill, Florida, Brendan and Evan Shoemaker, Bloomindale, N.J.; also several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and countless friends. He was an Air Force Veteran serving as a Radar Tech, and with the Air Force Band serving 4 years during the Korean Conflict. Ron was a graduate of Broome Community College and was a Broadcast Engineer with WBNG-TV for 42 years until his retirement and presently was working part-time at WICZ-TV. He worked for many years at the Broome County Veterans Arena as an Electronics Engineer and for the Binghamton Senators Hockey Club. He was also a member of the Maine Community Band and the Musikwerein German Band, and the Mountain Air Brass Group from New Milford, Pa. He was also an active member of the Chenango Bridge United Methodist Church, and a member of the American Legion Post 0124, Lykens, Pa.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Monday, September 29, at the Chenango Bridge United Methodist Church, River Road, Chenango Bridge, with Rev. Daniel Ling officiating. Calling hours will be at the church on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions in Ron's memory to the Chenango Bridge United Methodist Church, 740 River Road, Chenango Bridge, N.Y. 13901; or to the Cheanango Bridge Volunteer Fire Company, Kattelville Road, Binghamton, N.Y. 13901. Arrangements are by the James V. DeMarco & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St., Port Dickinson, N.Y.
